The Asian Games are Asia’s biggest sports competition. They are held every four years and feature 41 sports including esports.
The 2026 Asian Games will be held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City from 19 September to 4 October 2026. The Games will be the first since the pandemic-delayed 2022 edition in Hangzhou, China, to be held in Japan.
This is the next big event in Japan’s sports world after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as a great opportunity to further encourage international exchange with Asia.
Aichi-Nagoya will host the Asian Games in 2026 for the third time. The Games were born of the desire to reestablish bonds among Asian countries through sports, and contribute to everlasting peace in the region.
The Organizing Committee will focus on providing a safe and comfortable environment for all visitors to the Games, especially those from overseas. It will provide a variety of measures to ensure safety and convenience, such as establishing a dedicated police force and increasing staff numbers at venues. It will also use existing infrastructure to efficiently and comfortably transport people to the venues.
The Organizing Committee will make arrangements to ensure that the transportation system is ready for the arrival of visitors from around the world, the opening and closing ceremonies, and daily movements between competition venues. Shuttle buses will be operated between the competition venues and the nearest public transport stations, and steps will be taken to manage travel demand, such as by making public announcements.
